What is a maternity session?
A maternity session is so much more than just photos of your bump.
It's about capturing the in-between - that powerful, tender space between who you were and who you're becoming. It's about honouring your body, your strength, your story, exactly as it is right now.
This is a chapter that passes so quickly. The anticipation. The way your hands instinctively rest on your belly. The quiet moments of connection before everything changes. These weeks are fleeting and precious - and they deserve to be remembered.
My maternity sessions aren't about stiff poses or trying to look "perfect." They're about capturing you - authentically, beautifully, powerfully - in this moment of transformation.
when should i book my maternity session?
The sweet spot is between 32-36 weeks.
This is when your bump is beautifully rounded, you're (usually) still feeling relatively comfortable, and you have that gorgeous pregnancy glow.
That said, every pregnancy is different. Some mamas feel most comfortable at 30 weeks, others wait until 38. We can work together to find the timing that feels right for your body and your comfort.
Booking tip: Many of my clients book their maternity session in their second trimester to secure their preferred date and time. This also gives you plenty of time to prepare without feeling rushed.
Studio or Outdoor? How to Choose
I offer both studio maternity sessions and outdoor maternity sessions because every mama is different, and what feels right for one person might not for another.
Studio Maternity Sessions

Mamas who want something quiet, intimate, and elegant
Those who prefer climate-controlled comfort (hello, air conditioning!)
Anyone drawn to timeless, minimalist, art-gallery vibes
Mamas who want to use flowing fabrics, gowns, or my client wardrobe
Those who feel more comfortable in a private, calm space
What to expect: My studio in St Georges Basin is designed to be a soft place to land. Beautiful natural light floods through the windows, creating that soft, glowing aesthetic without harsh shadows. The space is calm, private, and entirely yours for the session.
I have a client wardrobe with flowing gowns, fabrics, and wraps you're welcome to use - or you can bring your own pieces. Studio sessions are perfect if you want that editorial, timeless look.
Outdoor Maternity Sessions
Best for:
Mamas who love nature and the wild beauty of the South Coast
Those who want something more organic and free-spirited
Anyone drawn to beach, bush, or natural landscapes
Mamas who want movement, wind-blown hair, and that golden hour glow
Those who want a connection to place in their images
What to expect: We'll meet at one of the stunning locations around Jervis Bay, Huskisson, or the South Coast. Depending on your preference, we might shoot at the beach (sand between your toes, waves in the background) or in the bush (soft eucalyptus light, natural textures).
Outdoor sessions are typically scheduled during golden hour - that magical time just before sunset when the light is soft, warm, and incredibly flattering. We'll explore, move, and let the natural beauty of the location enhance your images.
What to Expect During Your Session
Before the Session
Once you book, I'll send you a comprehensive styling guide to help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully and feel comfortable. I'll also check in with you as the session gets closer to make sure you're feeling prepared and confident (not stressed!).
If you're unsure about styling, I'm always happy to look at photos of your outfit options and give you guidance. You're not in this alone.
On the Day
Arrive ready to feel beautiful.
This session is about you. Your body. Your story. Your strength.
I'll guide you gently throughout - suggesting movements, poses, and interactions that feel natural (never stiff or awkward). My goal is for you to almost forget the camera is there.
For studio sessions: We'll work together in my calm, private studio space. We can try different outfits, fabrics, and looks. I'll adjust the lighting to flatter your unique features and shape. You can move at whatever pace feels comfortable.
For outdoor sessions: We'll explore the location together, using the natural landscape to create something organic and beautiful. I'll guide you to the best light and the most flattering angles. We'll embrace whatever the environment gives us - wind, waves, golden light.
If your partner and/or family is joining: They don't need to feel awkward or unsure. I'll guide them through everything - how to hold you, where to look, how to interact naturally. Many partners feel nervous about being photographed, and I completely get that. I'll make sure they feel comfortable too.
Session Length
Maternity sessions typically run for 45-60 minutes.
I never rush. If you need a break, we take a break. If you need water, we pause. This is unhurried - we move at whatever pace feels right for your body.

As a mum of two, I know how vulnerable it can feel being photographed during pregnancy. Your body is changing rapidly. You might feel swollen, tired, or not quite like yourself. You might be comparing yourself to others or to how you looked before pregnancy.

Your body is doing something incredible right now. And my job isn't to "fix" or "hide" anything - it's to honour exactly where you are. To capture the tenderness, the anticipation, the quiet power of this moment.
I'll guide you into flattering poses and angles, yes. But more importantly, I'll help you see yourself the way others see you - with awe, with gratitude, with love.
