FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This page is here to guide you gently, answer the questions you might not even know you have yet, and help you feel fully supported at every step.

Whether you’re booking your first session or returning for another chapter, I’ve made this as clear and helpful as possible — so you can relax, feel prepared, and focus on what matters most.

NEWBORN FAQ

  • Your newborn session will run anywhere between 1-3 hours, usually being all finished up in 2 hours. This is dependent on how settled your baby is - the session is entirely baby-led, which means we will pause as necessary to soothe, feed and change baby.

  • The best time to get in touch is during your second trimester. I only take on a limited number of newborn bookings each month, and sessions are held on weekends.

When you're ready, I’ll send through a booking calendar where you can select your session date - I recommend choosing a weekend around 10–14 days after your due date, when babies are typically still sleepy, settled, and beautifully curled up.

Of course, things don’t always go to plan - and that’s okay. Once your baby arrives, just send me a message and we’ll adjust the date if needed. I always keep a little space for flexibility, because real life doesn’t run on a schedule

  • Absolutely — this is a moment for the whole family. We’ll usually start with family and sibling photos (so little ones don’t have to stay long), then move into the solo newborn portraits. To maintain a calm and soothing space for baby, siblings are encouraged to stay nearby only when needed.

  • Think timeless and neutral — soft creams, whites, beige, or muted tones work beautifully. Once booked, I’ll send you a detailed Prep + Styling Guide to help you feel confident and ready.

I also offer 15% off with Mama Rentals, a sustainable, express-hire service offering beautiful, photo-ready dresses for mums and outfit options for the whole family. It’s the perfect low-waste alternative to one-wear purchases. I also have a few dresses for mums in my client wardrobe.

  • While 5–21 days is ideal for that sleepy, curled-up newborn look, I absolutely still welcome older babies. Your session may just look a little more “awake” and a little more relaxed — often shifting to a more natural, lifestyle feel rather than fully posed. Every baby is different, and I’ll adapt to your little one’s rhythm.

  • Yes — I have a selection of soft, timeless wraps, blankets, and a few minimal props available in the studio. My style leans natural and baby-led, so everything I use is subtle and intentional, focusing on your baby, not the accessories.

  • Just yourselves, your baby, and the essentials — nappies, wipes, a change of clothes, a dummy (if you use one), and anything that might help settle your little one. You’re welcome to bring something sentimental (like a blanket or toy), but no need to overpack — I’ll send you a simple checklist before your session.

  • Absolutely no problem. Newborn sessions are completely baby-led — we pause for feeds, cuddles, changes, and resettling whenever needed. There’s never any rush, and your comfort always comes first. You’re welcome to breastfeed or bottle-feed in the studio — it’s a calm, private space designed with you in mind.

  • Yes — gently. I’ll guide you throughout the session so you never feel awkward or unsure. I use soft direction to help you feel natural and connected, not stiff or overly posed. You’ll be able to relax and just enjoy the moment — and that’s what shines through in the images.

  • Your final gallery will be delivered via private online link within 3 weeks of your session. It will include a curated set of beautifully edited images, ready to download and print. You'll also have the option to purchase prints, albums, or heirloom products if you wish.

Maternity faq

  • The best time to schedule your session is ideally between 30 and 36 weeks. Obviously pregnancy differs for everybody, but this is usually the golden window for comfort and bump showing.

  • Absolutely. Whether it’s just you or the whole crew, we’ll plan your session to reflect what feels right for you.

  • That’s my job. I’ll gently guide you every step of the way — no stiff poses, just soft direction and a whole lot of reassurance.

  • You can choose between a quiet studio setting or an outdoor location in the Shoalhaven or Jervis Bay area. Both are beautiful — it just depends on your vibe.

Family & Motherhood FAQ

  • Any age. Honestly. Whether your baby is crawling or your kids are heading to high school, now is the right time to step into the frame.

  • Good. That’s how we capture the real stuff. I’ve worked with children for years and I tailor every session to their energy. We keep it playful, light, and totally unforced.

  • Neutral colours work beautifully across the board. You’ll receive a full style and prep guide to make the process feel easy.

  • Motherhood sessions are focused solely on the connection between you and your little ones — think soft, intimate, and emotive. Family sessions include everyone and are often a little more energetic.
