Bump to Baby

MATERNITY & NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY

I don’t think there’s anything that quite prepares you for creating, growing, and birthing a human. We put so much emphasis on the newborn (and rightly so), but I believe the entire journey — the anticipation, the transformation, the love — deserves to be documented, celebrated, and treasured.

The woman. The fierce, beautiful woman who is literally giving her entire self for another. The mother becoming, whether it’s her first or fifth. She is growing, glowing, and evolving — and that story matters just as much as the tiny details of your newborn.

The Bump to Baby Collection is designed to capture both: the you before and the you after, the beauty of pregnancy and those precious first days of holding and loving your baby. The sweet newborn smell, wrinkly little hands and feet, sleepy cuddles — moments of pure love paired with overwhelming, unparalleled fatigue. These are the memories you’ll want to return to again and again, and the images are your heirloom, a timeless reminder of love, tenderness, and connection.

FAQs

How long does the session go for?

Your newborn session will run anywhere between 1-3 hours, usually being all finished up in 2 hours. This is dependent on how settled your baby is - the session is entirely baby-led, which means we will pause as necessary to soothe, feed and change baby.

How do you know when to book your session for?

I will tentatively book you in on a Saturday, aiming for around 10 days following your due date. As a NICU nurse and mama myself, I know that babies do not abide by a schedule and some things don’t always go to plan. Once your baby is born, I will get you to shoot me through a message and we will confirm a date that suits us both while aiming between 5 and 21 days old. At this point in time, I only offer weekends for sessions (with the rare exception) and I will only book in a limited number of newborn sessions/due dates per month. I highly recommend getting in touch during your second trimester so that you don’t miss out.

Can parents and siblings be included?

Absolutely! This is a precious time for everyone. I will generally photograph baby first and then move onto parent/family shots. However, this is entirely dependent on how sleepy bub is. I recommend that siblings only stay in the room when they are needed for photographs to maintain a calm, relaxing environment.

What should we wear?

My newborn sessions are all about capturing timeless imagery, so I highly recommend keeping your outfits as neutral as possible (think whites, beiges, creams etc.). I will send you a comprehensive preparation and style guide in the lead up to your shoot so that you can feel as prepared as possible!

What if my baby is older than 21 days?

Weeks one to three of your baby’s life are magic. Of course all of the weeks are magic, but during these first few weeks, newborns are squishy, flexible, sleep more, and are still adjusting to the world outside of the womb. Often, their skin is still clear, and their bodies are shaped as if they’re still in utero – making it easier to get them into position. If we don’t manage to fit into this timeframe for some reason, it’s totally fine. Older babies just might be a little more resistant to the swaddle, or naps, or being held by someone they don’t know, it’s completely dependent on the personality of your little individual and it may just mean it is more of a lifestyle family session instead of a posed, sleeping baby session.

What if I don’t feel like my house is suitable for a photoshoot?

My style is clean, simple and minimalistic. Your home doesn’t need to be Instagrammable or worthy of a place in Vogue Living. All I need is a small pocket of space with a glass door or large window that allows for good natural light. Come as you are, I will make it work. I will bring along sheer curtains to filter the light, and all the equipment required for the shoot. You’ll find very little of your home included in the shoot (unless that’s what you’re wanting!)

How does payment work?

You will be required to pay a retainer fee of $200 at the time of booking. This confirms your booking and covers my time photographing your family as well as session preparation, professional editing and gallery preparation. You will choose a digital image collection/package upon booking, which the remaining amount must be paid at least 7 days prior to your session. Your digital image collection can be upgraded at any time after viewing your gallery.
